Santa Cruz Writes (SCW) is a grass roots organization founded to promote and create opportunities for writers of all ages in Santa Cruz County. Our goal is to facilitate a fertile writing environment that enhances collaboration, communication, and publishing pathways through the creation of a learning community accessible to all. |

SCW seeks to establish collaborations and partnerships with existing agencies and projects, UCSC and Cabrillo College, writing groups, reading groups, K-12 students and teachers, independent bookstores, and individuals who use their writing to make sense of and change the world. Current programs include The Love Letters Project and collaborations with the Santa Cruz Reads project through the Santa Cruz Public Libraries and the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries.

Santa Cruz County is filled with talented writers and thinkers willing to share their knowledge with others through live and online workshops, retreats, and discussion groups. SCW will enhance and promote the spirit of community among our writers with the creation and facilitation of writing groups, workshops, and retreats, using both face-to-face and online solutions. Multiple pathways are available to share and publish one's work given the electronic age. SCW will provide resources and research opportunities for Santa Cruz County writers to publish their work including access to our Santa Cruz Writes online literary magazine, phren-Z, as well as other local and national opportunities, including the imminent arrival of Bookshop Santa Cruz's Print On Demand (POD) system.
